Is to relive the Emmaus Road experience.

Symbolism in Liturgical Art

Baptism In the past man has relied on symbols to tell the story. Color, shape, texture and image all work together to convey the message.

In this Baptismal piece the 3 colors of water represent the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This water is flowing out of the shell, which is the traditional symbol for baptism, birth or new life. The water is flowing into the dove which represents that we are being baptized with water as well as with the Holy Spirit. There are 7 leaves on the tree because 7 is a perfect number according to Christian tradition. The entire scene is resting on a rock, which is symbolic of the disciple Peter and the church.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:18)
